Over 41 million people arrive through Juan Santamaria International Airport making it the second busiest airport in Central America, only being second to Panama's Tocumen International Airport.
With only one runway, 07/25 at 98881 feet long, Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO/MROC) is able to handle some of the world's largest aircraft. Boeing 747's as well as Airbus A330'S and A340's fly into the airport.
Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO/MROC) is home to Lacsa, the national airline of Costa Rica and part of Grupo TACA along with partner Sansa Regional. The Airport is also home to Nature Air a regional airline operating domestic as well as international flights. Today the airport is able to handle 17 commercial aircraft with its 17 gates and 9 jet bridges. The Airport is currently going through a major renovation and expansion project.
