Aruba is a top destination for vacation and holiday, holding one of the largest airports that can accommodate the largest airlines in the world. The Reina Beatrix International Airport, Aruba is the most frequently utilized airport in Aruba and features many great amenities to suit passengers. Expansion of the airport in 2010 raised passenger capacity within the terminals to 2.6 million, rising a third of what it used to hold.
Aruba's largest airport, Reina Beatrix International Airport, Aruba is located only 1.5 miles from the city of Oranjestad in Aruba, merely 20 minutes from Palm Beach, offering extremely swift access to the most valued areas surrounding. The airport sits at an elevation of 60 feet, or 18 meters. Traveling 2.2 miles from the airport, you can reach downtown Aruba and the many attractions that surround the area, with great restaurants and bars, which are also found within the airport itself. There is lush land surrounding the airport, which is used to access the city areas by residents of Oranjestad.
The Reina Beatrix International Airport in Aruba only has one runway, 11/26 which spans 9,000 feet, but can accommodate the largest airlines in the world, such as the Russian Antonov AN124 which landed at the airport in August of ’06. The airport has continually provided national, international, and long-haul flights with several airlines coming to and from the airport each year from the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, and the United States. The high capacity for passengers and goods throughout the airport influences its massive presence in Aruba.
Reina Beatrix International Airport of Aruba has been in use for many years, from the earliest serving as a simple hub for the Air Aruba airline that went bankrupt. This began international flight through the airport as Air Aruba was a main international airline before bankruptcy. The airport also served as a hub for Air KLM, but tool on Tierra Air as Aruba officially separated from the Netherlands Antilles during 1986, making the Reina Beatrix International Airport an independent airport still owned by the largest airport within Aruba. There are several airlines passing through the airport including Air Transat, AirTran Airways, JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines, and Thomsonfly, as well as several others that continue to keep the airport thriving. Passengers from around the world frequent the airport as a top resort destination of the world.
