, Latin America’s as well as Mexico’s largest and premiere International Airport is located basically in the center of the sprawling city of Mexico City and a short 5 miles from the city center. A public airport, Benito Juarez International Airport/ Mexico City International Airport  is the the busiest airport in Latin America, no other airport in Central America or South America comes close to size or scope of Benito Juarez International Airport/ Mexico City International Airport

 Benito Juarez International Airport/ Mexico City International Airport  With 2 runways, 05R/23L  at 12795 feet and 05L/23R at 12966 feet, the airport is cable of handling the largest of the worlds airlines.  Sitting at a altitude of 7316 feet, the airport is one of Latin America’s highest commercial airports, coming in at number 4 of largest and highest comercial airports in Latin America. Surpassed in height by La Paz Bolivia’s El Alto International Airport at 13325 feet, Quito, Ecuadors Marisca Sucre International Airport at 9228 feet and El Dorado International Airport in Bogota Colombia at 8361 feet above sea level.

Mexico City

 Opened as Balbuena Military Airport in 1928 the airport was Inaugurated in 1931 with its first international flight to Los Angeles International Airport by Mexicana Airlines, today Benito Juarez International Airport/ Mexico City International Airport  has become a major International player with flights arriving from, North America, Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe as well as Asia. The airport has also become the main gateway to connecting cities throughout Mexico.

 Benito Juarez International Airport/ Mexico City International Airport  is a hub for several of Mexico’s airlines, Aero Mar, Aero Mexico, Aero Mexico Connect, Interjet and Volaris, Until August 2010 the Airport was home to Mexicos oldest Airline, Mexicana Airlines when it filed for bankruptcy and stoped operations.

 

 Benito Juarez International Airport/ Mexico City International Airport has 2 main terminals spread over the large airport. On the north side of the airport is the oldest, terminal 1. Opening in 1958, today terminal 1 has 32 jetways and 20 remote parking spots, 2 hotels, Camino Real with 600 rooms and Hilton with 110 rooms can be found in Terminal 1 as well as numerous restaurants, lounges, shops, duty free. Several banks as well as car rental and hotel information can be found in the terminal.
 Terminal 2 located on the south side of the airport was opened in 2007, today the terminal has 23 jetways and 17 remote parking spots. Located in the terminal 2 is NH Hotel with 287 rooms as well as numerous resturants, lounges, shops, duty free. Several banks as well as car rental and hotel information can be found in the terminal.
