Martinique Aime Cesaire International Airport FDF/TFFF

Nestled in the tropical French West Indies, the Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport calls Fort-de-France, Martinique home, the island's jewel of a capital. But more precisely, the airport is located in the capital's suburb of Le Lamentin, which is only a 10 minute cab ride away to the east of Fort-de-France.

The Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport features a single asphalt-paved runway that is designated 09/27 and has dimensions of 10,827 x 148 feet. The most recent figures and statistics from the island's government state that the Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport services approximately 2.5 million travelers every year.

The terminal inside of the Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport includes amenities for both business and leisure visitors alike. And the facility is capable of processing approximately 1,800 passengers per hour on average, plenty to support the islands predominately tourist economy.

Unlike many of the other major airports in the Lesser Antilles region of the Caribbean such as Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport operates twenty-four hours a day. The facility also caters to chartered and connecting flights from the following airlines: Air Antilles, Express Air Canada, Air France, American Eagle Airlines, American Airlines, and a direct charter out of Miami International Airport.

In 2007, the name of the facility was changed in honor of the honored politician and author Aimé Césaire, revered in Martinique for his pivotal role in shaping the island's political infrastructure. In addition, the Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport has recently underwent a renovation and retrofitting project in the aim of modernizing the facility and to accommodate the increasing number of visitors coming through the terminal each year.

The surrounding landscape around Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport is breathtaking to say the very least, which is why this island paradise is so heavily trafficked by tourist. In fact, the Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport houses several of the island's tour operators directly out of its terminal facilities in addition to the usual amenities offered in an ultra-modern international airport.

Some of these tour operators include the following companies: Laroc Voyages Yssa Voyages Alizes Voyages and Afat Voyages. Through these tours, visitors can witness the majesty of Martinique's world famous beaches, lagoons, coral reefs, and the infamous volcano Mount Pelée.
