Serving the Colombian city of Medellin, Jose Maria Cordova International Airport is located in the town of Rionegro and a 30 minutes drive from the city of Medellin. Jose Maria Cordova International Airport is Colombia's second largest airport behind Bogotá’sEl Dorado International Airport. Located in the Andes the airport is situated on a plateau of the Central range of the Andes at an altitude of 7028 feet. The Central Range is one of three making up the Andes as they traverse Colombia. The land around the airport to the south is flat and dotted with farms and small pueblos. To the north, the terrain gives way to steep valleys and to the north east is a large man made reservoir.
