Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport has become a limited International player.  With flights mainly through out Peru and to neighboring La Paz Bolivia’s El Alto International and Viru Viru International Airport in Santa Cruz Boliva.

Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport  has become a major entry point for travelers to Cusco and the famed Inca City of Machu Pichu. Most travelers enter Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport then make the 3 hour train ride from Cusco to Aquas Caliente and then a 20 minute bus ride to Machu Pichu.

The airport has a 1story terminal that offers facilities for the traveling public.  A restaurant, snack bar, bank, money exchange as well as car rental and hotel information can be found in the terminal.
Due to the fact that Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport is surrounded by the city, the Airport is unable to expand to keep up with the 1.7 million and growing passengers.
